School of Medicine to hold workshop on caring for yourself and others

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada School of Medicine's Nevada Geriatric Education Center, in partnership with the Sanford Center for Aging and the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division, will present a workshop entitled "Caregiver Wisdom: Caring for Yourself and Others" in February.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Joe Crowley Student Union ballroom on campus at the University of Nevada, Reno and again on Thursday, February 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's Livelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road in Las Vegas.
This workshop targets directors, administrators and staff of homes for individual residential care, residential facilities for groups, assisted living facilities, nursing facilities and other caregivers of elders. Continuing education credit is available.
Goals for this workshop include identifying and managing caregiver stress, reporting procedures, principles of customer service in a care setting and discussion of recent changes to Health Care Quality and Compliance regulatory requirements and how they affect licensure.
Space is limited and early registration is requested (by January 22 for Reno workshop and February 1 for Las Vegas).
