Dr. John N. Chappel has been a professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno since 1974. He has practiced medicine for 40 years, specializing in psychiatry and addiction medicine.
Dr. Chappel was on the general service board of Alcoholics Anonymous and currently on the board of directors for Ridge House. Dr. Chappel has taught addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry for 32 years at the University of Chicago and University of Nevada, Reno.
He is certified by the American Society of Addition Medicine and received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Addiction Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He joined the faculty of the National Judicial College in 1975.
