In 1995 Dr. Ole J. Thienhaus relocated to Nevada to become chair of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Dr. Thienhaus has published nearly 100 articles and book chapters as well as three books. He is a fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists and serves on the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His interests include crisis intervention psychiatry.
Dr. Thienhaus was born in Germany. He attended universities in Germany and Ireland. After medical school he began his surgery residency training in Berlin, but after two years he transferred to a psychiatry residency training program at the University of Cincinnati.
He completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati in 1984. He later joined the faculty at the University of Cincinnati, eventually promoted to vice chair in 1989.
