Dr. Gary Johnson completed all of his medical training at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno.
He returned to his hometown of Fernley, Nevada soon afterwards, serving as one of the area's two sole physicians. He returned to the medical school in Reno after three years in private practice.
Fifteen years later he was named chair of the family and community medicine department, followed by an appointment as vice dean for the school's Reno campus serving in this capacity until 2007. He is active in state, local and hospital medical societies.
He continues to see a small group of patients.
