Dr. David Fiore is associate professor, associate residency director, director of sports medicine and director of community medicine in the family medicine department at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno.
Dr. Fiore had a unique background as a physician before joining the School of Medicine.
He was an emergency medicine physician in a busy hospital in upstate New York. After a year and a half he took a trip to Asia. He financed the trip by working in Saipan for three months, later traveling throughout southeast Asia for six months. While in Burma, he arranged an informal medical school where he taught rural medics.
He later returned to upstate New York, resuming his emergency medicine practice and working in a rural general practice. After his residency Dr. Fiore worked for three months in a rural clinic in Hawaii and six months as a physician at a Sierra ski resort.
Dr. Fiore would later join the School of Medicine faculty in 1992. He is currently chief of staff at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
