Dr. William Zamboni is chair of the Department of Surgery and chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas.
He is director of the Microsurgery and Hyperbaric Research Laboratory at the School of Medicine. Dr. Zamboni is on the adjunct faculty at the University of Nevada Las Vegas Department of Biological Sciences and Nevada Cancer Institute.
He has received numerous distinctions including the Foundation Professor Award from the University of Nevada, Reno, voted one of "America's Top Surgeons," the Distinguished Physician of the Year Award from the Nevada State Medical Association, and the 2003 Alumnus of the Year from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Dr. Zamboni helped transform surgical care in Las Vegas and how limb reattachment surgery is done in the country. He is renowned for his medical innovations, establishing Nevada's first limb reattachment center.
Dr. Zamboni's research also discovered that placing patients in a hyperbaric chamber with 100 percent oxygen and higher than normal pressure greatly enhanced the healing process after surgery.
